Berlou is a peaceful, picturesque and renowned wine-making village nestling in the foothills of the Haut Languedoc National Park. It is situated just a half an hour from the Mediterranean Coast and is approximately 1.5 hours from Montpellier and Carcasonne Airports both of which are served by Ryanair.
La Vieille Forge Guest house from which we operate is stone built and remains cool throughout the hot dry Languedoc summers. John and Alex the owners have taken care to ensure that the house is welcoming, clean and very comfortable and have lovingly renovated the house themselves, retaining original features and elements of it's past, reflecting the colours and influences of the mediterranean and including lots of interesting souvenirs from their travels.
Below is a sample 4 night break, however we will be happy to provide a bespoke package for your group and let you decide on which activities you would like to do. The cost of the following break is £350.00pp and includes everything except your flight and lunch in Carcasonne.
Day 1
Arrive at Carcasonne Airport where we will collect you by private transfer. We will then take you to visit the Medieval Town of Carcasonne. If you arrived in the morning then there will be time to enjoy lunch in one of the shady squares within the walls of the castle. Transfer to Berlou with a 4 course evening meal on the terrace.
Day 2
A visit to the beautiful village of Roquebrun followed by a half day canoeing in the Orb Valley. Lunch in our favourite Restaurant The Blue Lizard followed by a lazy afternoon on a quiet river beach.
Day 3
A hike in and around Berlou with a traditional French lunch to follow back at La Vieille Forge. In the afternoon we will visit a number of local wine Domains and let you sample some of the fantastic wines of the region. Dinner back in Berlou.
Day 4
A short visit to one of the local markets followed by a trip to the lovely old town of Narbonne. After lunch in Narbonne then we will head for the beach where you can have a lazy afternoon or try your hand at one of the many watersports on offer.
Day 5
Private transfer back to Carcasonne for your flight home
